Remembering Spirit Overtaken

by on August 8th, 2009 at 2:25 am, under Image

As all of you are unaware, Spirit Overtaken was Emerald Templar‘s metal/goth/rock band. He happened to be kicked out of the band for being a fat nerd prior to the band completely breaking up, but we decided to take a look back at this young group of musicians that dared to challenge and break down the old fashioned ideas that music should do things like “sound good” and “not make people vomit.” They only wrote one song and their fan base was made up entirely of family and friends, but we know they will continue to rock on in our hearts.

I think they only hang out with that kid on the right to look less awkard by comparison.

Whoa, we're getting a little crazy here!

Re: Re: Parents..

Both my parents were divorced, and had very different views of my obsession with Anime.

My mother, who is now passed away, was very supportive of my Anime addiction. I think most of this was due to the fact that she at one time was an art major in college. She was also somewhat of a geek herself, who did things like take me to see Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back at a very early age.

Meanwhile on the other end of the spectrum, my father was very against Anime. So much so that him and I actually got into some fist fights when he tried to throw away some of my art books and manga. Fortunately, I lived with my mother, and didn’t have to put up with his old ass.

I honestly believe kids today have it easier when it comes to parents understanding their obsession. Anime is much more relevant in todays society, and is recognized as a legitimate art form. Schools such as Savannah College Of Art And Design even have classes that focus on Anime and Manga styles. Also high schools have Anime clubs, Barnes and Noble has huge Manga sections, Anime is on TV regularly, and conventions like Animazement are around to educate parents about what Anime is all about. All in all, todays kids have it much easier than kids in the late 80′s and early 90′s (such as myself). They have several mediums at their disposal to help them prove their point, that Anime and Manga are good for the environment, the government, and puppies alike…

Do your parents know you look at hentai?

by on May 6th, 2009 at 12:38 am, under Text

My parents know I look at hentai.  For the most part they’re cool with it since they see me as an adult and being able to make my own descisions about what to beat off to. look at for artistical value.  I’m 22 now, though I think I’ve been viewing hentai since I was 15 or so.  I never really knew what it was when I first saw it.  I honestly thought that the first hentai game I played would contain no nudity and just be an adventure game with a happy ending.  That game was Tokimeki Check In!.  Throughout the course of the game, Ayumi gets raped in three seperate story arcs.  Holy crap.  To this day, Ayumi’s my favorite character from that game, though not because of the H scenes(She’s actually got a great personality).  Before that, when the internet was just getting started, I’d check out some stuff at CG Shrines.

Ah, then there’s Hyperguy.net, which happens to have hentai on it(It was never meant to be a hentai site, and for the most part, still isn’t one).  To the nonanime fans (people above 25 years of age) I’ve show the site to, I’ve mostly gotten positive feedback.  People’ll usually ask me where I got my images from, which is no easy question to answer since they’ve come from all reaches of the internet.  Because of the hentai that is on my site, my Dad doesn’t visit it when he’s at work.

I like hentai.  It’s nice.  I’m pretty decent at chess.  I won’t post a list. xD

Wow, I’d expect younger parents to understand anime obsessions. My dad is 71 and he loves anime.

I am a parent now so I’m trying to get my little guy hooked on anime before he turns one XD He giggles whenever I have anything in Japanese on my computer. I don’t understand why everyone elses parents would not understand it. The first thing I ever watched was Totoro via my aunt’s house. One of my aunts lived in Japan for 5 years, so she sent us tons of anime related things including a few old notepads with Goku on them. My other aunt is the one who got me the Totoro movie and other cute Japanese things. My parents love anime and my dad was the one who attempted to get me hooked on it.

My dad hates anime he is what we call in America “AN OLD FART” yes i had to emphasize that,he hates anime when he sees my room which i have pics in my photostream he just makes fun of me im like “Dude ,WTF” .My brother hates anime hates it , he think i should just sell all of my crap literally and go find something else to do.My mom she dosen’t care that much shes like “meh” so you like anime i think you’re too old for it,but if that’s what you like ,ahh well…However where i work at it’s torture since i work in retail and i work with a lot of older people and they make fun of me when i buy anime ,we sell anime from Funimation and many others,i buy them for 3 dollars a DVD a piece (minus a 20 percent discount) problem is i buy a case with 40 DVD’s each time i lost count how many i have. And my new nickname with the guys is Pikachu (i hate it) so i only have one ray of hope one of my coworkers is around my age (he likes anime btw) he goes with me to conventions and stuff so it’s not all bad.My parents want to trash my room with all the anime stuff i have, they hate….but i never will I will always love anime always,i hope someday i have kids any they like anime the same way i do……..
