Anime Shrine: “GG & EM”

* Names (or nick names): GG&EM
* Age: 25
* How many years you have been an otaku: 12
* Nationality: American
* Outline of your collection: Far too much….figures, autographs, DVDs, manga, art books, video games, shitajiki, character goods, seiyuu stuff, etc. etc. This is probably about 1/10 of our collection; sadly the rest are in storage.
* How much does your collection cost: I don’t want to think about it but I’d say on average we each spend $300-$500 a month and on a bad month with a lot of releases (like all the upcoming K-on merchandise), maybe $1000.
* Your fave item: autographs
* Your website address: www.guzu-guzu.com
* Anything else you want to say: This is EM’s basement that has sort of become a mini-museum for our combined autograph collection (well about 2/3) and some of our individual figure collections that we have no space for at the moment. Everything up on the walls are sketches or autographs by character designers, mangaka, seiyuu, creators, animators, singers, idols, directors, etc. It’s kind of fun to see it all up and pay homage to the people who create the works we love. Our website has pretty much become a competition between two friends on who has a better autograph, character goods, doll and figure collection. However as the domain name implies, we’re pretty slow (lazy) in updating so who the winner is, is up in the air right now. Maybe one day we’ll actually have everything up and actually have the courage to post pics of our individual rooms.

Nickname: Wolfheinrich
Age: 36
How many years have you been an otaku: Now that’s a tricky question, I was not aware of myself becoming an otaku when I was still very young, the series that pushed me over the edge was Golden Lightan, so that put it at roughly 26 years.
Nationality: Naturalized American Citizen (Chinese)
Outline of my collection: Mostly anime figurines, Gunpla, DVDs, CDs and most recently Dollfie Dream
How much your collection cost: About $20000 USD on my figurine collection, probably $25000 USD overall.
My Favorite Item: Dollfie Dream Dynamite Escalayer
Your website address: http://tcwenterprise.com/wordpress

Additional photos can be found in my flickr site:

I have been a lone wolf otaku for many years since none of my off-line friends are otaku by nature, I stumbled upon Dannychoo.com by total accident and I have been making quite a few friends since then. Ever since I have become a regular visitor here and I have learned how to communicate with other otaku through blogging, something I have never attempted before.

I enjoy my otaku life style very much and at the same time, I also want to work hard and be a contributing member of the society, I worked very hard to develop my career and I want to help prove that otaku can be a very productive member of the society.

You’ve all seen it, nothing special. This time I’m in one of the pictures. It’s a shame I was too lazy to shave that day. I just felt I needed to further meet the criteria by putting in all the required stuff and getting 10 pictures.

Name: Zac Bush
Age: 20
How many years you have been an otaku: 8
Nationality: Canada
Outline of your collection:
-I started collecting smaller and cheaper figures when I was in late middle school.
-Some of my first figures were Kotobukiya Play Arts of the Final Fantasy series.
-I used to buy things from a particular series, regardless of the maker.
-Most recently (the last 2 years) I’ve been collecting from both specific brands and series (such as Max Factory), with a focus on Vocaloid and Haruhi Suzumiya goods.
How much your collection cost: About $4000
Your fave item: Gothic Lolita Haruhi Suzumiya by Griffon

Anime Shrine: El Bastardo

by on September 18th, 2009 at 2:01 pm, under Image, Text

Hello folks. Below are the necessary bullet point facts but before I want to say some words to the photos.
So why are my photos more special than any other photos you ask?? – Because they are authentic and real.
With the (obvious) exception of the katana on the bed (which is in fact a real one) everything is exactly as it is every day. No posing of figures in special ways, no piling up of all my manga and DVDs, this is the real room I live in.

And no this is not just an excuse for not cleaning it before the photo shooting ^_^ (hey it’s not that dirty anyway).

Please excuse the poor lighting of the pictures but this room has poor lighting conditions to begin with and I do not own an SLR just a compact digital camera with a normal crappy flash light.

On the walls you see my poster arrangement like I had it for the last “I can’t remember anymore how long” years so this is a premiere. Only for you (OK not only but you are the trigger for doing it), live and now I do a “before after” and rearrange my wallpapers collection. See the new version I call “maximum space exploitation” with the last two photos!!

* Nickname: El Bastardo
* Age: 27
* Have been an otaku since 1994 (over 15 years)
* Nationality: German
* Location of the room: Germany
* My collection consists of everything nerdy: Figures (including over 100 Gashapons), video games, anime, manga, artbooks and all the good stuff. Especially my figure collection can be seen at MyFigureCollection.net
* How much money it already drained out of my life I can’t say but that’s what life is for!!
* Favorite Item?? – I’m the type of guy that can’t just focus on one aspect (like MMORPG players can) but I’m proud of my Mononoke Hime hard cover Japanese first edition artbook
* You can find my latest thoughts at my personal shrine http://figurefan.blogspot.com/
* Why my room is a unique example: It’s maximum “otakuness” on limited space, figure love to the best and it just has the “fan factor”.
* Some people ask me “Hey when do you stop with these childish hobby of yours. Will you still do it when you are over 50??” – And I say “YES” ^_^ !!

If someone want to ask: Yes, the two non anime related posters on the wall you see is from the “X-Files”. I was a huge fan back in the days and I just loves Gillian Anderson. Not visible is the classic “I want to believe” poster from agent Mulder.

If the tiny possibility might happen that my exotic room is chosen to be shown to the world in the book I can make additional and/or better photos.
And also yes I know it’s not only packed it’s jammed. So many things in only 13m² is nuts. Subwoofer under the tables, seven loudspeakers cramped in every little nook but it’s effective and I like it that way.

Hope you like it too and if not that’s even better because that would proof I’m unique ^_- !!
